What Have I Done? And What Will I Do?

I keep thinking about writing my memoirs. (Don't roll your eyes, my life HAS been interesting!) When it comes to experiences I think I have pretty much covered the spectrum. Well, painful experiences anyway. I have never traveled outside the US or fought in a war, but when it comes to understanding human suffering, I should have a PHD.

Now when you read that last sentence, did you instantly think I was feeling sorry for myself? I would really like to know, because that one problem is what is stopping me from starting. I don't want to come off as a whiner. But much of my story is pretty raw and often brutal. And I actually don't feel sorry for myself in the least, not anymore. How can someone who has not only survived but is thriving have any time for self-pity?

The reason I want to write my memoir is because I honestly believe that my story is unique, what happened and how I lived with it all and ended up where I am today. It just seems like such a daunting tasks and I wonder if I am emotionally ready. Sometimes I fluctuate between just writing the story in different short stories and making it fiction, to take myself out of the equation.

I am not sure where to start.

Forget the Destination: The Journey is All There Is

I am a 62-year-old female and up until a few years ago-I am not kidding you-when I got a little tipsy, I could not stop trying to tell anybody who would listen all about me.

Yeah, I know. Pathetic.

Hey, whatever, at least I got it and started working on realizing that everybody is in their own little world and could not give two shits about what I am doing. Cynical? Nope, realistic. We all have our plates so full that we cannot add another person's crap to it. The plate will surely topple.

All joking aside, I did exaggerate. People are drawn to me, some of it sexual energy, thank God,  but just as often it's a response to my light. I am pretty much a happy person, so I know that radiates. Call me arrogant, but there is scientific fact that light draws light.

I have spent so many years in the darkness after my oldest son killed himself 12 years ago. Nope, don't want your sympathy, I am simply sharing my experiences here so that I will stop needing someone to listen and justify my existence.

The point is, I have regained the light in my soul that I thought was lost forever. Come hell or high water I will not let that die again.

To all the women who get me. thanks for reading. happy Tuesday evening.

Happy New Year!

I don't know about you but I am sad to admit that my poetry has suffered in the latter part of 2013. Life just frigging intrudes! I have written a few poems but haven't even taken the time to type them into my Word Processor.

Help ya'll! Get me motivated!

I hope everyone has a great 2014 and I am going to try like to hell to get back to my roots, get my poetry book published, (truth is, when i made the top 40 out of 1000 chapbook entries into a contest in the Fall of 2013 and didn't win, that's what really got me bummed out) and keep this blog updated.

Would love some guest posts from you lady poets out there! Just let me know. It doesn't even have to be about poetry as long as it's a woman's issue.
